Seahorse Ring

Seahorse Ring

$155.00

Handmade in solid sterling silver

Seahorses engage in an eight hour courtship dance which includes spinning around, swimming side by side and changing colors! Interestingly enough, it is the MALES who carry the unborn young, which allows the female to make more eggs and reproduce faster on the next time around.

Seahorses are under great threat worldwide: The Traditional Chinese Medicine Trade takes in excess of up to 150 million seahorses a year from the wild. The Curio Trade takes approximately one million seahorses. They are then sold as souvenirs. The pet trade takes an estimated one million seahorses from the wild and it is thought that less than 1,000 survive more than six weeks. These amazing sea creatures need our help more than ever.
